Please Do NOT Leave a Message

Yesterday I cleaned out my voicemail box. It was full and no longer accepting messages. If you ever try to call me, you know this is nothing new. Even if there is room to leave a message, you shouldn't bother. I won't get it for about a month when my mailbox is full. There were three messages asking me to babysit. I would have been happy to babysit, but I didn't get the message because I don't like listening to 20 messages at a time. I know if I listened everyday there wouldn't be 20, but I don't want to check it everyday either. Really my phone doesn't accept incoming calls. If I happen to be near it AND it's actually charged I'll answer it. But mostly it's an outgoing line only.

I have the worst throat thing going on. It hurts like crazy especially when I'm trying to sleep, but I hate waiting around at the doctor's office. It's been about a week, but only started hurting really bad yesterday. Probably I need antibiotics. Why do I need to go to the doctor? I've had these symptoms for a week now. They aren't going away and the only thing that helps is to eat an Otter Pop, but before it melts in my mouth I fold my tongue backwards with the ice and touch it to the back of my throat-AWESOME! I wish I was close friends with a doctor and s/he could just write me prescriptions or I wish Quick Care was actually quick.

What's with Smithsonean guy getting a $900,000+ salary and then charging the government an additional $1.1 million dollars to do fund raisers at his house. Meanwhile teachers make $40,000 a year and spend several thousand dollars a year on their students from that $40,000. The wrong people are rich-the greedy, selfish ones who only want more. They probably have secretaries taking messages for them and don't have to sit in the waiting room at Quick Care.

Stupid Starbucks

I am taking a class this week at Valley High School, which is on Eastern near Sahara. I'm not really familiar with that part of town. Yesterday on my way there I decided to skip dinner and just get a Starbucks coffee. I thought that would be easy enough. In my part of town there is a Starbucks about every mile-most of the time with a drive thru. As I drove down Eastern I started to get the feeling that I wasn't going to find a Starbucks. So I turned on Charleston. I drove for a couple of miles and decided that if I didn't find a Starbucks by Maryland Parkway, I'd turn there. Surely there would be a Starbucks close to UNLV. As it turned out, I did find one on Maryland Parkway. No drive thru though.

On that journey I decided that Starbucks is a social class thing. Eastern, Charleston and Maryland Parkway are busy streets, VERY busy. The traffic was crazy because the old bumpy roads are only two lanes and the lights are irregularly spaced. I did notice that in place of all the Starbucks stores that should have been there there were Check Cashed and Payday Loan stores. The ironic thing is that Starbucks pays decent for an entry level job, with benefits even if you only work part time. The people who need Payday Loans would benefit from a higher wage job, but they'd have to take the bus to the suburbs in order to work for Starbucks. The rich get richer I guess..........

Jack's favorite adjective right now is "stupid". Not my favorite word for kids. Tonight he was talking about the dream he had two weeks ago. He's been talking about this "bad guy" dream ever since. Tonight, he was telling me about the "stupid bad guy" in his "stupid dream". Cute even though he was kid cussing.

I Never Really Did any Drugs....

So can anyone tell me what the illegal uses for pink eye medicine are? I would really like to know what dangerous activities I could be doing with eye drops if I didn't have to take my kids to the doctor so s/he could say, "red eyes that are glued shut in the morning? Yep, that's pink eye all right. Here is your official prescription because we simply can't trust the general public to have access to PINK EYE MEDICINE." What a scam.

Things have been busy. My mom and dad decided to sell their house so I've been trying to help them get ready. The house will look better than it has the whole time they've lived there. I hope after all the hard work, it sells fast. It's frustrating to not sell a house you want to.

I'm trying to earn enough credits to get to the pay raise by August. That means I need to complete 12 credits by August. I've already started one and signed up for a few more. It will be tiring but hopefully worth it. I'm still planning to work part time next year. I need to make it at least two more years until Jack gets into Kindergarten. Hopefully longer, but at least until then.
