The More You Know......
I learned a possible origin of Christmas Caroling by watching the Holly Hobby Christmas Special. I want to investigate it, but I'm afraid I'd find out it's only about the singing.
According to Holly Hobby people used to Christmas Carol to find out who in their community was in need. They would carol and if someone didn't offer them a refreshment, the carolers would know that that family needed help. Holly Hobby said, " So they didn't have to ask for help." I think that sounds like such a fabulous thing. People should carol more, even if it's only for the fun of it. But WOW if we could use it to figure out who to help-wouldn't that be great? Too bad we're all so American.
