The "Diana" Spoon

We took the kids camping again this weekend with some of our best friends and their kids. Some people spent the whole weekend and others came for part of the day on Saturday. It was a very relaxing, fun time. The kids made a serious mud pie that they spent a good portion of the weekend working on. My kids sleep SO good when we are camping and I think it's from spending so much time and energy learning first hand about God and his creation-rocks, dirt, grass (aka mud pie). The mountains are so full of non human made things that it is hard to ignore the Creator of it all when you are so surrounded by His fingerprints.

When the kids were making that mud pie I remembered that as a small child (under 5) I ran around the neighborhood without my mom tagging along. One of my favorite places to play was a huge hole in the ground. We would go their and dig in this hole with our mom's kitchen spoons. I'm sure our mom's loved that hole. All through my childhood we had a black handled spoon that we called the "Diana Spoon". We brought it home one day from that hole. I don't remember Diana but I'm not sure why, if we knew who the spoon belonged to, that we didn't return it.
